Do You Wanna Come Home? by ~LadyGraceNindalf:iconLadyGraceNindalf:

Rain taps on the window like a jealous lover as I
lie awake in the dark, my
face pressed against the pillow case
while flooded by thoughts of your smile
and the laughter in your eyes.
I wonder if it's raining on your travels?

The name of this poem comes from the title of a song written by the same person about whom I wrote this.

That's almost like a little haiku, but not nearly as stiff sounding.

Well, I should say, not as stiff sounding as the haikus *I* write

Haha, yeah, I've always found my haikus to be really stiff too. I think it's because we're thinking more syllabically than actually trying to create a short little pristine image, which is what they're intended to do. I shy away from haikus, my poems are already short enough. :D

Small and pristine are definetely not my strong points.

I heard from a friend who studied japanese that haikus are almost laughably easy for them. Something about their only being like seven endings to most of their words and five of those seven being rhymes of one another or something. In short, they cheat.
